The Parliament of Owls

Huddled beneath the full moon’s gaze
Eyes bright and omniscient tell tales
And sing songs of midnight woes
Martial laughter hoots into nightfall
Gloating with terrific glee as
Small rodents creak and tremble with horror
Hidden within burrows and knotholes
Of but temporary comfort
Insecure in the knowledge of
The morrow’s foray into death-haunted
A conglomeration of nations amass
Upon the branches of silent trees
Witness to the haunted deliberations of
The mighty
Within whose fell talons the question of
Life and death is decided
These fateful portents hang upon still air
Gathering silvery dew in the shadowy pall
Cast by
The Parliament of Owls
